Over the years, several superstars have left WWE because of their dissatisfaction with the company. One of those superstars who had such an issue with the Stamford-based promotion is Ryback. He started his run in the company in 2004. It took him 6 long years to reach the main roster.

After another six years, he decided it was best for him to part ways with the company. Creative and financial differences had him bound hand and foot, thus ultimately leading to his departure from the promotion. Recently, he mentioned another reason for ending his relations with WWE and it involves how Vince McMahon treated him.

He said, “This is very like the system that Vince has set up and promotors in general and it protects them and it’s very difficult and that’s why it will take…. It’s like a new organization or promoter that is willing to….”

“I gave up on it along just with the thing. It’s physical acting and there’s going to be…We can talk about it all day but the guys and the way that the system is and it’s just and I’ve experienced it and it’s like…” he added.

He confessed he tried to make peace with the unfair system for years. But there came a point when he couldn’t tolerate the injustice being done to him anymore. That might have been one of his last straws in WWE. But even after leaving the company, he couldn’t fully move on with his life.

Ryback’s legal battle with the promotion

The 41-year-old thought that leaving WWE would put his professional miseries to an end. However, he was wrong about it. His past came back to haunt him, but it was in the form of a legal notice. After he left WWE, he started wrestling under his name ‘Ryback’.

This led the Stamford-based company to file a cease-and-desist case against him in 2020. The promotion was not happy about their former employee using their business trademark name in other promotions. But he didn’t back out from the fight. He promised to give it all and even challenged WWE that he would win in the end.

After a hard-fought battle of three long years, he finally won his case against the sports entertainment giant in January 2023. He is now the sole owner of his wrestling trademark name. Thus, he can use it whenever and wherever he wants now.
