A few months ago ahead of WrestleMania 38, current Chairperson of WWE Stephanie McMahon talked with Mike Pillucci of DMagazine. There she had stated that Vince McMahon wasn’t going to retire any time for a few more years.
The Billion Dollar Princess said, “I think you hit the nail on the head. He has said, I think, publicly that he will ‘die in the chair.’ We’ll see. Who knows? Life is long and unpredictable, but somehow, I don’t see him retiring any time soon.”
As she claimed, Mr. McMahon wasn’t planning to retire anytime soon this year or for the coming few years. He enjoyed the work he did and wanted to do it for as long as possible.
A couple of months ago, an investigation was started over the allegations that Vince McMahon paid certain hush money to a few female employees. He paid this money to hide their relationship. However, he stepped down as WWE’s chairperson as the investigation began.
Moreover, things became serious when Wall Street Journal published more depth information on the case. There are no claims made that Vince McMahon retired because of the ongoing investigations. In the tweet, Mr. McMahon mentioned his age as the reason to retire.
At 77, time for me to retire.
