“Difficult Decisions Were Made”- Triple H Issues A Statement On WWE Re-Signing Drake Maverick
Triple H opened up about his thoughts to offer recently in an interview.
In an emotional turn of events, WWE superstar Drake Maverick signed a new contract with NXT, keeping his career alive. A lot of WWE Superstars and backstage employees were laid off following the decline in profits ever since the COVID 19 pandemic took over. Maverick was among those unfortunate few.
However, it was only recently announced that Maverick would be in contention for the WWE Cruiserweight title. Jordan Devlin’s inability to defend his title (because he is stuck in the UK) meant that WWE would need an interim champion. This truly was the last string that Maverick was hanging on to.

As a crowd favorite, Maverick battled the odds and reached the finals of the tournament. Where he was looking to face El Hijo Del Fantasma as a final obstacle to securing his career.
The match was a well-spirited fight, and Drake seemingly had it in the bag. That was until the notorious Luchadors invaded the ring.
Maverick fought them off and sent them with their tails tucked between their legs. However, as soon as he re-entered the ring, Fantasma hit him with a superkick. He followed the move up with the Phantom Driver (his finisher) for the win.
How Triple H came to Drake Maverick and his career’s rescue
A heartbroken Maverick wept at the podium and most of the crowd felt for him. But that was when the boss Triple H walked in to save the day.
To everyone’s surprise, Triple H offered him a new NXT contract. Which meant that Maverick could continue performing as a superstar in NXT. Despite the rollercoaster of emotions that we’d seen through the night, both finalists were winners that night.
