We often look at wrestlers as otherworldly superheroes who are bound to fight and emerge victorious. It does not suit them to hold them to real-world standards, especially if it is something affiliated with emotion. But the truth is far away from this perception. Wrestlers are human beings and have their own share of emotional turmoil as well.

Former WWE superstar star Jeff Jarrett is probably undergoing the toughest time of his life at present for the sake of his father’s death last Tuesday. Jerry Jarrett, legendary pro wrestling promoter, succumbed to death at the age of 80. While no official cause has been revealed yet, the former wrestling legend had reportedly been combating esophageal cancer for a long time.

WWE Hall of Famer took to his Twitter to dedicate a heartfelt poem to his beloved dad, while sticking tight to his scheduled match on Dynamite. Jeff Jarrett wrote, ”When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, ………………it out”

Owing to the adversity he is facing currently, the former star self-actualized and reflected on some of the hardest realities of life through these lines. ”Don’t give up though the pace seems slow-You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than, It seems to a faint and faltering man,……………,How close he was to the golden crown.” Success is failure turned inside out-………… when things seem worst that you must not quit, #Dad”, the wrestling superstar added on.

It seems like this above-mentioned popular poem by John Greenleaf Whittier has inspired Jeff not to quit his planned match on AEW Dynamite against The Acclaimed, Billy Gunn and Orange Cassidy in Laredo, TX on Wednesday. All hearts may beat with double J that night, helping him to stand strong, surpassing all the odds life threw at him.

Jerry Jarrett’s unforgettable legacy

The legendary father of Jeff marked an ever-lasting legacy both as a wrestler and promoter through the decades. Starting his wrestling career with National Wrestling Alliance Mid-America territory, Jerry won numerous championships before taking off his boots. One of his most notable deeds as a promoter was founding the Continental Wrestling Association along with another top of the business, Jerry Lawler, back in 1977. In due course, CWA faded out and the United States Wrestling Association (USWA) which is a merger of CWA and World Class Championship Wrestling, took its place eleven years later. Jerry finally ended up selling the stake in USWA, causing it to cease functioning in 1996.

The ‘Wrestling genius’, along with his son, Jeff, co-founded Total Nonstop Action later in 2002. It has been continuing even today as Impact Wrestling.

Like every father-son duo, Jeff and Jerry also had their issues, which came to light earlier and even got featured in storylines a few times. In 2015, they reconciled after their long dispute over the TNA.

It is true that the passing news of the former wrestling legend received tons of condolence messages and prayers. But a son’s emotion toward his father reflected through a poem will always remain special and incomparable, no matter what.
