Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns are two of the leading Superstars of the current WWE Generation. Fans globally are eagerly looking forward to a match between the two in the main-event of a major pay-per-view.

Previously, Triple H, WWE veteran Superstar and the WWE Executive Vice President, said that a match between McIntyre and Reigns is equivalent to the Hulk Hogan-Ric Flair bout.

The Scottish Psychopath expressed his thoughts about Hunter’s comparison during an interview. As per the former WWE Champion, Triple H watched him grow, fall, and stand back tall again. To McIntyre, it is a high honour that Triple H holds him to such high standards.

“[Hearing that] was a surprise, but I was very appreciative on such a high compliment,” McIntyre said. “Hunter – he’s the one who brought me back to WWE. He’s watched my entire career evolve and then devolve, and then re-evolve in front of his eyes. So it’s cool now, at this stage, that they can see me at such a level.”

The company will allow both Superstars to be themselves for a while. Roman Reigns returned as a heel and is still exploring the various aspects of his new character. McIntyre is on a mission to attack Randy Orton until he gets the WWE Championship title back.

Among these, a match between The Scottish Psychopath and The Tribal Chief will not receive the importance it deserves.

“I think the thing is to keep us on the path we’re currently on, Roman, keep doing what he’s doing with his new character, and me finally being myself. Actually, I think it’s more Roman being himself. Both of us are being ourselves now and keep developing these characters to get to the point where everybody knows them inside and out, and we take them as far as we can possibly take them. And eventually, when we have that big match down the line, it can be at that high, high level.”

The point to note here is that WWE might not capitalize on this match if McIntyre and Reigns are not holding the WWE Championship and WWE Universal Championship title, respectively. It is possible the company has handed the WWE Championship title to Randy Orton at Hell in a Cell because of the upcoming Survivor Series.

WWE has reverted to the pre-2019 model where it’s Raw vs. SmackDown. If Drew McIntyre was still the WWE Champion, it would have been McIntyre vs. Reigns, which Vincent McMahon and co. wants to avoid at all costs.
