The ‘Scottish Psychopath’ Drew McIntyre’ has had an incredible 2020. He conquered Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 36 and has been undefeated since becoming champion. He would look to continue his winning streak as he faces Bobby Lashley at Backlash as set up after today’s main event segment on Raw.

In the recent episode of Raw, MVP and Lashley came to the ring before the main event. MVP took a mic and stated that he and Lashley have taken a personal interest in the match. This was followed by Lashley cutting an aggressive promo and boldly stating that he is putting McIntyre on notice and is coming after the WWE championship. Both of them then stood on the entrance ramp as the main event took place.

McIntyre won the main event match against King Corbin after smashing him with a Claymore-kick for the pin. He then yelled at Lashley and MVP, “I and the fans have waited a long time for you to step up and be the killer that you are. This is the version of Lashley I want to fight.” As the show went off the air.

It would be interesting to see the direction which WWE takes with this feud. They can either put the focus on the heavy-hitting match between the two wrestlers or they could focus on Lana to spice things up and continue her storyline with MVP and Bobby.

WWE has been crunching for television ratings with the recent Raw episode only garnering 1.7 million viewers, they need to use some innovative tactics to get the numbers up. Considering this  It would make sense for them to bring Lana back and have a soap opera drama storyline because that was the biggest draw viewers wise on Raw before Lana was dropped by Lashley for MVP.

The history of Drew McIntyre and Lashley

The Backlash match between these two heavyweights would not be their first engagement in a world championship champ. During their Impact days, they bought fought at ‘Slammiversary’ for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in 2016. In that match, Lashley got the better of The;’Scottish Psychopath’ and even won the rematch that took place on 14 June of the same year to put an end to their feud. An interesting fact to note is that the Backlash pay-per-view is scheduled for June 14 which would mark the fourth anniversary since their last match together.
