In a recent interview with Chris Featherstone, Former WWE Writer Vince Russo revealed his thoughts on WWE’s situation during this pandemic.

He strongly feels that WWE has messed up Drew McIntyre’s booking.

In addition, Russo feels that WWE has not played their cards well during this pandemic and thinks that they have not adapted to the situation aptly.

“The problem is, they didn’t plan on the pandemic,” says Russo. “They are just going according to plan and they are not making those alternations which they very well could make.”

Russo is full of praise for Drew McIntyre but feels that WWE is wasting an opportunity with him.

“I’ve got to be honest with you, pandemic, fans, no fans, this has to be the worst booking of a champion I’ve ever seen,” says Russo. “Drew McIntyre could be a movie star. This is a guy that has all the tools… they’ve done nothing.”

Vince Russo blames WWE for letting down the “Fiend” character

Russo claims that this isn’t the first time WWE has botched a good character and dials it back to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt.

“How you can fail a Bray Wyatt, a Fiend, a Mr. Rogers – how you could fail all three of those characters… you either gotta be really bad or have to do it purposely,” says Russo. “I wish I would have gotten to work with a talent like Bray Wyatt.”

Russo does not hesitate to criticize WWE for the way they have booked their performers.

Interestingly, he feels that he would have done a much better job with Bray Wyatt.

Ever since the Bobby Lashley feud ended at Backlash, Drew McIntyre has been facing easy opponents that don’t really pose a threat to him.

Russo feels that this is not the best strategy. He feels that WWE needs to push the big superstars towards McIntyre and not deprive his character of the stature that it is very much capable of achieving.

One theory doing the rounds is that WWE is reserving the big storylines for when the fans return to the stadium.

Right now, they are just focused on maintaining the viewership ratings.

However, Russo feels that WWE may not have that long for important characters. It needs to do its talented superstars justice before they are beyond redemption. For instance, WWE wasted one of their biggest characters in The Fiend by making lose to Goldberg right when his popularity was at its peak.

We would like to see another big feud in store for The Fiend and WWE should not wait too long before people get tired of waiting and just move on.
