The Attitude Era is widely regarded as one of the best eras in professional Wrestling history.  It was also one of the best times to be a wrestling fan. Classic segments, insane matches, and jaw-dropping promos were what made it unique. One of the key men in this era was none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

In a recent post on Twitter, The Rock himself replied to a throwback featuring his match with The Undertaker. He revealed that “The Phenom” was on his Mount Rushmore of Wrestlers.

The video featured the moment when The Rock was about to deliver a People’s Elbow to Taker. However, Taker iconically sat up!

Unlike most wrestlers who get startled and act like they’ve seen a ghost, The Rock wasted no time and kicked “The Deadman” back down. He then proceeded to deliver the People’s Elbow anyway!

While many may consider it a dream match now, it was just another Monday in the Attitude Era. The content was at its finest, and great matches were never short in supply.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson nearly defeated The Undertaker

The Rock faced The Undertaker on May 17, 1999, in a Casket Match. “The People’s Champion” was about to win the fight when Triple H interfered.

While The Rock tried to fend both his rivals off, the numbers game eventually took a toll on him, and he was rolled into the Casket.

Triple H then proceeded to kick down the casket along with Shane McMahon and The Undertaker. To everyone’s horror, “The Game” began smashing the casket with a sledgehammer!

Although The Rock would end up getting his revenge later, the match was lost then.

Dwayne Johnson now looks back and rates The Undertaker as one of the best wrestlers he ever faced. If there were a Mount Rushmore for WWE Superstars, The Undertaker, by law, has to be there.

I’m sure as much as WWE try, they can never replicate the pure gold of the Attitude Era.
