Adam Pearce has done a commendable job as the unofficial General Manager of SmackDown and Raw. Currently, he is playing the role of the on-screen manager for WWE.

The pro-wrestler wasn’t as popular when he was performing in the ring. His name gained momentum once he was pushed to an on-screen official role.

Professional wrestling reporter, Dave Meltzer, had answered why WWE picked Pearce as their on-screen manager. His notion was that the company needed to use someone who would not overshadow the Superstars who are performing inside the ring.

What other roles does Adam Pearce perform in WWE?

Pearce’s responsibilities extend beyond being an on-screen authority figure. He continues to work as a backstage producer as well. During his interview with Corey Graves on his After The Bell podcast, Pearce revealed the duties he performs backstage.

“To make it real simple – I do everything. I do literally everything. No, I jest, but not really. Producers’ days at television, especially start before everybody else’s…. I’ll get there three or four hours before everybody else; we’ll sit in a meeting, we’ll go through the festivities of the day – that may or may not change at all, it may be etched in stone, and we may follow through with one set of plans immediately.”

Adam Pearce needs to step inside the ring on a regular basis as a producer. In fact, before WWE presents the show to the audience, he has to make sure the Superstars know their segments and understand how to deliver them.

Apart from this, Pearce needs to constantly be in conversation with the broadcasters, producers, camera crew, and others.

“Sometimes that means I need to get in the ring and teach somebody something they’ve never done before – those are always fun days. And then, I’ve got to; once the broadcast comes to fruition, sit there in the chair with the headset on and communicate what we’re seeing to our broadcast partners and our television truck – our producers and our directors – before it actually happens so they can have their cameras in position to capture the images we’re trying to give the viewer at home.”

A glimpse into his days as a pro-wrestler

Adam Pearce made his debut in the wrestling industry in 1996, even before he finished high school. He started rising in the industry by working independent promotions.

During 1997 to 2000, Pearce appeared several times on World Wrestling Federation as an enhancement talent. This is when he was noticed by Terry Taylor. When Taylor moved to WCW, Pearce received a similar contract, but he declined, as moving to Atlanta was not an option for him.

In July 2005, Pearce debuted for Full Impact Pro. He credits the likes of Samoa Joe, CM Punk, Daniels and Steel for this contract.

Next, Pearce moved to Ring of Honor. At ROH, he appeared on Glory by Honor IV in September 2005. By this time, he was unhappy with commissioner Jim Cornette for not giving him quality matches or title shots.

Finally, he started working as a guest coach and trainer in WWE from 2013. On December 11th, 2014, he worked as the producer for WWE NXT Takeover: R Evolution.

He became a full-time trainer for the Performance Center and the producer of WWE NXT in May 2015. Since then, WWE has promoted him to the on-screen manager and backstage producer position on Raw and SmackDown.
