Fans Throw Garbage and Beer Cans at Former WWE Superstar After He Wins World Title

It has been months since Matt Cardona a.k.a. Zack Ryder was released from WWE. The former WWE United States champion is currently wrestling at IMPACT and recently won a title at GCW. But things didn’t go his way after his win. Matt Cardona is the new Game Changer Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion.
He defeated Nick Gage on night one of the GCW Homecoming event held at the Showboat, Atlantic City, New Jersey. Matt made a surprise appearance last month at a GCW under a mask and started to feud with Nick.

Both men gave it their all for the glory. At one point, Nick Gage used light tubes and a pizza cutter on Matt, causing him to bleed during the match. The finish saw Matt hit Nick with a tube light, followed by the Radio Silence.

What was supposed to be a glorious night for Cardona turned disastrous when he pinned Cage for the victory. The fans were not at all happy with Cardona winning the title and quickly showed their disapproval. The audience became an angry mob and threw garbage and beer cans at Cardona.

Fans didn’t like former WWE wrestlers’ win

The fans did not give the bloodied champ a moment’s peace after his win. As Cardona tried to celebrate his victory, the live crowd showered him with boos and garbage. All hell broke loose at the GCW. Nick Gage held the title for 100 days before his loss on Saturday.

Matt Cardona had a decent run in WWE. However, the fans felt that he didn’t receive the push he deserved. Matt as Zack Ryder was well over with the WWE Universe and at one point was one of the most popular stars in the company. Sadly, WWE didn’t capitalize on this and his potential was never reached.
