AEW functions differently from WWE, and everyone is aware of that.

In fact, AEW even allows its wrestlers to participate in other promotions such as New Japan Pro Wrestling. FTR confirmed the distinct working style of the company in a recent interview.

FTR joined a podcast to talk about the restrictions and other aspects of signing with AEW after their run with WWE for six years. Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood spoke about how they are dealing with being in AEW and why they chose this transition.

FTR reveals the reasons they signed with AEW

One of the primary reasons why FTR took the leap of faith from WWE to AEW is because of the opportunities.

As a professional tag team, both Harwood and Wheeler believe that AEW has better tag-teams such as Lucha Bros. The two teams are preparing to go head-to-head at Fight for the Fallen.

“We’re extremely excited about it. We came to AEW for a reason and it’s because the amount of extremely talented tag teams they have there and obviously near the top of that list you’re gonna have the Lucha Bros,” said Cash Wheeler.

On the other hand, FTR follows a specific style when it comes to tag-team matches which Lucha Bros do not. Their style is unlike any other unit in the Florida based company.

“We came into AEW and we have a different style than everybody else and everybody else in the world, not just AEW. But they do have the top tag teams from across the country and across the world. So, we’re very excited about joining AEW and working with these guys”, said Dax Harwood.

Additionally, FTR mentions WWE banning the spike piledriver which they revived in AEW. The wrestlers believe that every time they step through the ropes, they are putting their lives at risk.

This is a statement that everyone will agree with. More often than not, we see wrestlers walking out of the ring with various injuries.

However, knowing the impact of different moves, almost all of them are careful about how they use it. FTR believes that the spike piledriver cannot be more dangerous than the others.

“We put ourselves at-risk, willingly, to entertain the fans. If you’re telling me a spike piledriver is more dangerous than any of those things I just listed and then some, then I don’t know what to tell you. We’re seeing crazier moves now than we’ve ever seen in history.”
