Triple H decided to open one of the most emotional chapters in the history books of the WWE. Speaking about the year 2008, he recalled the Hall Of Fame induction of the Nature Boy Ric Flair.

As wrestling fans, we religiously remember the retirement match of Ric Flair. In a contest that left no dry eye in the audience, Shawn Michaels hit a sweet chin music that would end the glorious career of the Nature Boy. At least that’s what we thought then until he decided to ruin that moment by taking part in a horrendous match in TNA.

Anyways, to preserve the sanctity of that priceless moment at Wrestlemania, most of us assume that was the last time we saw Flair in the ring. That entire time period saw WWE honour the legacy of Ric Flair. However, Triple H recalled one moment where Vince McMahon decided to show who was the boss.

What happened during the Hall of fame speech of Ric Flair with Triple H?

The Hall of fame speech was an emotional affair. Ric has had a long and storied career that once saw him travel from one territory to another in the good old days of professional wrestling.

Needless to say, his story wasn’t going to be very short. However, Vince McMahon is no fan of heartwarming moments if they get bad for business. Apparently, Rick had been speaking for way too long and Vince thought that he was boring the audience.

Throwing all courtesy down the dustbin, he ordered Triple H from the Gorilla position to tell Ric to cut his speech short. Triple H, who had inducted Ric into the Hall of fame, was obviously surprised by this as it would look extremely disrespectful. However, you don’t say no to the boss.

Triple H proceeded to do as told and was showered by boos from the WWE Universe.

“Now Ric’s doing his speech, and at some point, I see somebody wave from the curtain, like wave me over, and I stick my head into gorilla position, and Vince is like, how much longer has he got? He’s talking about the 70s; he’s not even in the 80s yet. Vince is like, ‘Well, we’re going to get dropped dead off TV, you’ve got to go out there and cut him off.’ ‘You mean you want me to go on stage and tell Ric Flair to wrap up his induction speech?”

Triple H talked about this story in some bonus footage from WWE 24.

“And he’s like, ‘Yes, go right now, and I’m like, oh for the love of God, right (laughs)’. So I have to walk out there to the crowds booing, and I’m like, ‘You;ve got to wrap it up’, and he’s like, he just keeps going.”

Ric doesn’t stop even after the first warning

However, Ric didn’t stop even after the first warning. Vince was having none of it as he ordered Triple H to go tell him again. By this time, he was completely embarrassed but had to do as told.

“Now there is a panic at Gorrila, like people calling me over. ‘Why didn’t you tell him, well, I did tell him.’ Why isn’t he wrapping it up, I said it’s his Hall of Fame speech, and they were like go tell him again. The worst possible fear I could have was to tell Ric that you’re a legend, you had a great career, get off the stage, please.”

Back then, it would’ve been a nightmare for Triple H. With his idol at one hand and his boss at the other, it was definitely a tricky situation. Now it’s just a fun anecdote that he can tell fans all over the world in his interviews.
