In his illustrious WWE career, Dwayne Johnson had many memorable rivalries. He wrestled against some of the biggest names in wrestling and created moments of a lifetime. During this period, The Rock also teamed up with some popular names and wrestled alongside them. During the height of his fame, The Brahma Bull once teamed up with a popular tag team in WWE in the main event of RAW.

In 2000, The Rock feuded with Kurt Angle over the WWE Championship. But the Olympic gold medalist had the team of Edge and Christian by his side. To even the odds, The Hardy Boyz joined The Rock to ensure they didn’t outnumber him.

This resulted in a six-man tag team match between these wrestlers. Former tag team champion and one-half of the Team Extreme, Matt Hardy, recently talked about how it was teaming with Rocky in the main event of RAW.

Matt Hardy said his brother asked Dwayne Johnson to do a crazy spot during their match

The Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian, and The Dudley Boyz were the defining tag teams of the Attitude Era. They constantly feuded over the tag team titles and put on classic matches. The tag team trio also revolutionized the famous Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. As such, when Kurt Angle sought backup from Edge and Christian in his feud against the WWE Champion The Rock in 2000 before No Mercy, The Hardy Boyz were quick to level the field.

This led to a six-man tag team match on an episode of RAW. For the Hardy Boyz, it was a big deal as they got to tag along with one of the biggest stars of that era. Matt Hardy recalled how before the match, his brother Jeff suggested a spot to The Rock and his reaction to it.

Matt Hardy talked on ‘The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy’ about the match and said Jeff Hardy made a suggestion to The Rock before the match. The Charismatic Enigma proposed he would put up a ladder outside the ring and then jump from it over the ropes, performing a Swanton on Edge or Christian inside the ring.

Matt, also said Johnson politely declined this proposal and asked for a straight match. He said, “I remember Rock, sat there and looked and kind of looked over at Jeff. And he looked at me and he said, like, give me a little bit of people’s eyebrow. He said, ‘brother it is such a great idea, I don’t know if it fits in this match. Let’s use that some other time. He said, let’s just do a straight match this time and I use the ladder. And I’m just like, Okay, that’s cool.”

Dwayne Johnson knew what could work in a match such as this one. The main angle of the match was the feud between him and Kurt Angle. A moment like the one Jeff Hardy suggested could’ve taken the focus away from that. Still, the Hollywood star was very kind in his response to the Hardy Boyz and showed respect to their opinion.
