“He Saved My Confidence” – Roman Reigns Credits WWE Legend for his Career

Roman Reigns’ in-ring return at SummerSlam 2020 took the WWE Universe by storm. Whether it’s his heel turn, or being booked against his own cousin, Reigns has been making headlines since.

The WWE Universal Champion finally had a heart-to-heart conversation about his return with Corey Graves on After The Bell. While in conversation with Graves, Reigns opened up about the time when Dusty Rhodes said a couple of hard-hitting things to him. It was at this point that Reigns knew what his goal should be.

Reigns also recalled being in the warehouse with his peers while Rhodes was conducting promo classes. It was in those classes that Roman Reigns realized what a powerful individual Rhodes is. He knew how to bring each of the young talents out of their comfort zones and help convert them into megastars.

“He knew it. I think he could see it within all of us. Like, when we were getting out of our comfort zone or starting to break us a little bit. He knew where our confidence was going down. He knew just when to give you a little shot.”

Dusty Rhodes played a huge role in what Roman Reigns is today

As per Roman, Dusty Rhodes was the one who gave him the confidence to embrace the pro-wrestler within him. In fact, The ‘Big Dog’ revealed that if Dustin Rhodes did not say not those impactful words, his career may not have been what it is today.

“He told me ‘you just gotta let it go baby, you just gotta let it go. You are it. You have it, you can’t get rid of it, you can’t sell it if you want to. You just have to accept it and be the guy.’

“From there I knew it, you know what I mean? I knew if he is telling me this, then I need to understand it. I need to learn how to harness it. It took a while. It’s still a work in progress. But yeah, that was one of those moments where the dream completely just, he saved my whole mentality, he saved my whole confidence.”
