Otis remained in control of the match for its majority. He threw the former WWE and Intercontinental Champion across the ring and was even able to display his usual antics.

However, The Miz was able to keep Otis at bay with the kneeling DDT and the IT kicks. The latter only managed to fire up Otis who bulldozed him with a shoulder block. He avalanched him in the corner and set up for the Caterpillar.

As he set up for the Caterpillar, John Morrison looked to slam Otis with the Money in the Bank briefcase. The referee caught him and admonished him from ringside, but what happened next was completely out of the blue.

The betrayal of Otis

Otis picked up a nearfall off a clothesline and looked to pull Miz back in the ring, only for Tucker to nail him in the head with the Money in the Bank briefcase. With a shocked look on his face, The Miz pinned him to win the briefcase.

Backstage, Tucker explained his actions to Kayla Braxton. He said, “It was always about Otis, but that’s over now.” He was then attacked by his former tag partner after the interview.

Tucker’s reasons

The reason seemed cliché, but it made complete sense. The experiment was cute, but the Heavy Machinery man stood no chance against Roman Reigns or Drew McIntyre. The Miz could pose a realistic threat to either champion.

Tucker’s frustrations over being overlooked led to the betrayal. Otis’ popularity peaked during his days of impressing Mandy Rose and her move to Raw meant he had nothing to chase anymore. He has made no attempt or intention to cash in his contract.

A rivalry with Otis would give Tucker the spotlight which he craved. This will give both men an investable storyline, one that will elevate both of them to the status of single stars.
