Well, he’s back indeed. After enduring the horrible Shorty G gimmick, Chad Gable is once again ‘Chad Gable’.

This is a fantastic move by WWE. Shorty G was an embarrassment to Gable’s wrestling prowess, and the former Olympian seems ready to turn a new chapter in his life.

Welcome back, Chad Gable

Chad Gable’s former tag-team partner, Jason Jordan, put out a tweet regarding the news. Notably,  Jordan has been away from the ring since 2018, and made a cameo appearance in May during the arrest of Jeff Hardy. He underwent neck surgery after suffering a career-threatening injury which put him out for a year.

Shorty G faced Lars Sullivan on the latest episode of SmackDown. As expected, the blue brand’s new resident monster steamrolled Shorty G and pinned him after smashing him with the Freak Accident. After the humiliation, Kayla Braxton asked him for a comment, and all Shorty G said was, “I quit.”

Adam Pearce confronted Shorty G backstage and implored him on why he quit. “I quit being Shorty G. My name is Gable. Chad Gable,”  the former Olympian replied.

This is big news for the SmackDown men’s division as well. Chad Gable is a fantastic wrestler and with his original name back, he will be a more than formidable opponent.

No one will miss Shorty G

Shorty G was a terrible gimmick that Gable could not make a success. He was stuck on Main Event, and far less talented wrestlers were pushed ahead of him.

His most high-profile feud came against Sheamus, who completely buried him. Sheamus himself called the Royal Rumble pre-show match with Shorty G a ‘slap in the face’.

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable were part of a tag team called American Alpha. They won the NXT Tag Team Championships, and defended them in classics against teams like the Revival and the Vaudevillians (Simon Gotch and Aiden English).

Consequently, they moved to Smackdown in 2016 and won the Smackdown Tag Team Titles within their first year on the main roster.

Gable and Jordan were split by the Superstar Shake-up in 2017. Post that, Gable embarked on a single’s run on SmackDown, facing the likes of Kevin Owens, Rusev and AJ Styles.

Jason Jordan, on the other hand, was revealed as Kurt Angle’s illegitimate son which was an unsuccessful angle for both Kurt and Jason.

An underrated wrestler; a future star in-the-making

Gable made a name for himself in NXT, Smackdown and even 205 Live. His run in the 2019 King of the Ring was something special. If utilised to his fullest extent, and allowed to wrestle freely, he will be a star on Smackdown in no time. It’s good to have Chad Gable back. However, the lesser said about Shorty G, the better.
