Many people look up to their idols and strive to reach the same level. However, if your name is Dwayne Johnson, you go one step further and surpass your idol’s record. After that, it’s possible that they will start to take pride in you. And The Rock recently accomplished this with his recently released movie ‘Black Adam’.

Notably, Black Adam was predicted to be Johnson’s biggest box office-earning film of all time, and it appears that prediction may come true. With Black Adam, he has now outperformed the combined opening week gross of his hero Arnold Schwarzenegger’s classic films, Terminator 1 and 2.

The decision DJ and DCEU made to go with Black Adam have proven to be the right one, given the substantial risk involved in the production. The movie finished its first week on a high note, earning $83.4 million, breaking Johnson’s previous record of $83.1 million for Hobbs & Shaw. Not only did he break his own record, but he also brilliantly surpassed the mark set by the iconic movie collection of the Terminator 1 and 2 movies.

To put things into perspective, the classic Terminator 1, which helped Austrian Oak cement his career in Hollywood, made $4 Million during its opening week. While Terminator 2, his highest-grossing film to date, made around $57 Million in its first week of release.

Thus, the combined earnings of the two legendary films are over $61 Million, which is still far below Johnson’s most recent anti-hero film. There are several things, nevertheless, that one must keep in mind.

First of all, the movie’s collections were from the years 1984 and 1991, and back then they were enormous sums that can’t exactly be compared. Additionally, it might have easily surpassed Black Adam if you compare the figures between then and today.

Not to mention that with platforms like YouTube, social media, and the conventional advertising approach, promotions are now simpler than they were in the past.
