Goldberg made his debut for WCW in 1997 and unleashed havoc on the roster. He tore apart men each week and embarked on an iconic 173-0 undefeated streak that saw him capture the WCW World Championship.

The former Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle quickly transitioned from NFL to Pro-wrestling. He pretty much ran through everyone on the WCW roster during his dominant 173-0 undefeated streak. Goldberg beat the likes of Raven, Curt Hennig, Scott Hall, Hulk Hogan, and DDP.

After defeating Hulk Hogan to become WCW World Champion, Goldberg kept his undefeated streak alive and held the title for 174 days. It was Kevin Nash who ended Goldberg’s undefeated streak at Starrcade 1998 after Scott Hall used a taser on Goldberg.

The ‘Iconic’ later signed with WWE for a brief period in 2003 and went undefeated for over half a year. His first loss in WWE came at the hands of (you guessed it right) Triple H! It’s mandatory for Triple H to win over WCW’s top guys, right?

“I look back on it and I’ve been pissed off at my answers a number of times. That’s childish. The fact is that Kevin Nash was the perfect guy to do it at the time. It was the perfect time to do it.

“I think the streak was losing some momentum, and who am I as a professional wrestler to give my opinion? I’m not a booker. I’m just the guy who takes the story and tries to act it out in front of the crowd. So, I will put it to rest. At the end of the day, doesn’t matter. I’m all good with him. It needed to be done, but dammit, did it really had to happen on my birthday?”

We agree with Goldberg on the fact that the streak would’ve had to end someday. Although there are certain facts that also deny the authenticity of his undefeated streak, it’s safe to say his squash matches brought a distinct energy to the room altogether.
