Coolio, the famous American rapper, suddenly passed away in Los Angeles on Wednesday at the age of 59. The singer shot to global fame in 1995 after the release of his single ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’. He won a Grammy Award for the song as the best solo rap performance. A famous name in pop culture, Coolio was also friends with a WWE icon.
Coolio was a friend and supporter of former WWE Women’s Champion Joan Laurer aka Chyna. After Chyna’s retirement from pro wrestling in 2011, fans wished to see her in the WWE Hall of Fame for her trail-blazing career.
Coolio, was one of those who threw his weight behind Chyna’s Hall of Fame induction.

Coolio wanted WWE to induct Chyna into the Hall of Fame
Chyna had a legendary career in WWE. She broke the barriers in more than one way during her time with the promotion in the 90s. The ‘Ninth Wonder of the World’ was part of the iconic D-Generation X faction, along with Triple H and Shawn Michaels.
She competed in and won many matches against male wrestlers. Moreover, Chyna also became the first female wrestler to enter the Royal Rumble.

Certainly, one of her ground-breaking achievements was when she won the Intercontinental Championship in 1999, making her the first woman to win a men’s singles title in WWE.

However, after departing WWE, her relationship with the company soured, which saw her being kept away from the Hall of Fame. Rapper Coolio, who was one of Chyna’s friends, once made a passionate appeal for her to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
In 2015, while appearing in a video with Chyna, the rapper said, “Listen here brother. I am f*****g telling you right now. If you don’t get Chyna into the Hall of Fame, it’s gonna be a problem, jabroni. I tell you I’ll put the Smackdown on your candy as*es. You won’t know what hit you.”
The Grammy-winning singer further listed reasons why Chyna deserved to be in the Hall of Fame.

He added, “I don’t understand. That’s the first Lady of wrestling right there… The only woman to hold a man’s belt. That’s the motherf*****g intercontinental champion right there. Stop playing.”
But, at that time, his appeal to WWE went unheard and there was no induction for the former WWE Women’s Champion. Sadly, Chyna passed away in 2016, but fans continued to push for her induction. Hence, finally, in 2019, WWE inducted her into the Hall of Fame as a member of the D-Generation X faction.

Chyna’s accomplishments and achievements in WWE stand to this day. Indeed, she was one of the cornerstones of WWE’s most popular era and made an unforgettable mark in the world of pro wrestling.
