Since the AEW started in 2019, the pro wrestling promotion has been gaining much popularity. With dynamic stars like CM Punk, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, and many more, AEW has successfully made its mark. The young promotion has given the spotlight to the former wrestlers of WWE and the strategy worked out well for them. Thus, WWE legends leaving through the Forbidden Door would never be exciting news for WWE. And when one superstar joined AEW, it came as a shock to former CEO Vince McMahon.

The superstar was none other than former WWE champion Chris Jericho. Jericho wasn’t in any contract with the WWE when he signed for AEW. But still seeing one of the best joining the opposition, surely had given McMahon a headache.

The Sexy Beast opened up in his recent podcast that Vince McMahon couldn’t believe, as he thought Jericho was bluffing. “I did give WWE a chance, though. I said, here’s the offer that I’ve gotten from this new company. And I was told to, Vince said, ‘Take it.’ I think he thought I was bluffing. And when I took it, then about a week later he’s like, ‘You took it?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ He said, ‘Can you get out of it?’ I said, ‘No! You told me to take it. Why would I try to get out of it?”
