When the world pandemic hit, WWE had to release many of their Superstars as a part of a budget cut. Zack Ryder was one among them. The Superstar is one of the talents that were massively underutilized by the company.

Time and time again, he has expressed how the company has treated him. In a recent interview with Keeping it 100 With Konnan, Zack Ryder further explained how WWE works off stage.

Ryder mentions how he was one of the Superstars who would always get a script. He adds that he never got to change any part of it. He had to play his part even if he wasn’t completely okay with the wordings.

“I was always the guy who would get a script. I never had the leverage to be able to change what I want to say. Of course, you can change some of the wording.

“Sometimes, I would say I would never say this. But for the most part, there is a script, there is a writer and that’s it,” Zack Ryder said.

Superstars could get it changed through WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, but Zack Ryder says it’s not easy to do so. According to Ryder, there is usually a huge line of other Superstars who want a change in their scripts.

“Could you go to Vince and get it changed? Yes, you can. It’s not that easy. There is usually a line of people trying to get in and get things changed or get things approved. It’s crazy back there. It’s not relaxed. The show is sometimes changing while the show is going on.”

He also mentions that at times the show changes as it is going on, a classic nod to how Vince McMahon works things in the company.

How he fell out of the pecking order

Zack Ryder was one of the biggest names to have a huge fan base over social media. Therefore, WWE wanted to make use of it and gave Ryder a push. He became the United States Champion, but the company stopped caring about Ryder after a while.

Ryder wouldn’t be the only one who has a similar story. Countless Superstars have suffered the same fate in the company. Currently, WWE boasts a huge roster of massive talents.
