Brock Lesnar is one of the few superstars in WWE that are considered a surefire hit. Every time that Lesnar walks up that ramp, there is a loud pop from the crowd. This has been going on since his early days. His debut run with the company was so impactful, from the matches to the promos everything. So much so that even though there were complications after his leave, Vince McMahon brought The Beast back in 2011.

Since then, it has been a cruise for the former WWE Champion in the ring. He rarely gets injured, he rarely has a poor match and his star power is incomparable to everyone on the roster. His sheer presence is more popular than some of the main events on Raw. But this also means that WWE keeps Lesnar safe at all costs.

Injuries are nightmares for wrestlers. Some have lost their contracts because of it, while some have lost careers. And WWE can’t afford that, with Lesnar being such a major star in the company. So they have major rules for his opponents to safeguard him. Understandably, some of these wrestlers have a problem with that.

On the Busted Open podcast, Tommy Dreamer said, “I will never forget, I had a match with Brock Lesnar. I had a lot of matches with Brock Lesnar… The finish, he misses his big frigging 450 thing, feeds up, I go for the Death Valley, I got him set, lands on his feet, picks me up, F5. They love the match, and they were like, ‘You can’t pick him up and do that move.’

And I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And this was early, like early me coming to WWE, and [they were] like, ‘Well, you can’t do it.’ I was like, ‘No, I did, check out the replay and go watch the match.’ Like, no, well, you can’t do it. And I’m getting mad at my producer, and I’m like, ‘I don’t understand what you’re saying,’ and he’s like, ‘Well, they don’t want you to do it.’ I was like, ‘Who’s they, tell me who they is?’ And they don’t have an answer.
