John Cena returned at Money in the Bank 2021, and the entire crowd went wild! The fans were so excited that their cheers echoed through the arena while the roof was shaking!

Cena’s objective for returning to WWE was to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship title at SummerSlam 2021. Cena challenged Reigns, but The Tribal Chief did not accept the challenge. In his place, Finn Balor challenged Roman Reigns and he accepted it.

However, John Cena isn’t among the Superstars who would let go of this easily. He did not stop challenging The Tribal Chief and paired up with The Mysterios to challenge Roman Reigns and The Usos.

The six man tag team match begun after SmackDown went off the air. This was Cena’s first WWE match after sixteen months. His last match was against Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36 in a losing effort.

At the match, John Cena and Roman Reigns squared off for a while, and so did The Usos and The Mysterios. However, finally Cena pinned an Uso brother to secure the victory. This was his first match and first WWE victory in over a year.

Will John Cena still be able to challenge Roman Reigns for SummerSlam 2021?

Cena returned to challenge the top guy on the roster, and that is Roman Reigns. WWE has already teased the main event for SummerSlam 2021 as Cena vs Reigns. It’s doubtful the company will go back on its word considering this is a money making match.

Moreover, this is going to be the biggest PPV of 2021, and the main event needs to be extremely huge and the perfect match would be Cena vs Reigns. On top of that, it would pave the path for The Rock’s potential return at Survivor Series 2021.

Also, Finn Balor just returned to the main roster. Therefore, a feud with Roman Reigns could be what he needs for a main roster push, but a main event at SummerSlam 2021 wouldn’t be as much of a hit as it would be with Cena vs Reigns.
