WWE Superstar Kevin Owens recently appeared on WWE The Bump, and spoke about his career, his future, and his interests.

The former NXT Champion had tons to say about the brand, especially some of its more talented superstars. Owens opened up about NXT Takeover: In Your House, and specifically about Io Shirai’s most recent performance.

Owens revealed that the very first pay-per-view show his father bought him was WWF’s In Your House.

He had a special soft spot for the event, as it was his first interaction with the world of pro-wrestling. Owens wanted to be a part of In Your House if it ever came back into existence.

“It was great show man, everybody worked their a** off”, Owens said, while speaking about NXT’s own version of In Your House. “I had to go back and watch it in my own house, and of course, Io Shirai won the title. Even if she hadn’t won the title she still would’ve stolen the show.”

Kevin Owens is a fan of Io Shirai?

Owens was extremely impressed by Shirai, and her amazing performance at the event. The NXT Superstar had put on an amazing show, and had nothing but appreciation from Owens. 

“Any moment from the show would be my favorite. From the dive off the thing, to at one point, she had a  springboard dropkick, which blew my mind.” Kevin said. He also addressed the videos of his reaction to the dropkick on the show.

“I don’t know if you saw that video of people watching from their house, but my reaction, it looks like I’m reacting to something else, but really that reaction was for Io’s dropkick. So yeah, she’s great.” 

Owens has been the prime example of a modern wrestler, who has made it from the NXT development program to the big leagues, as a bonafide performer. Owens is an example of the progress that talented wrestlers like Io Shirai can go through, and eventually make it in the pro-wrestling business. 

It is because of performers like Io Shirai and Kevin Owens that NXT is so popular today. It is no longer seen as a stepping stone, but rather a place to be.

Most famously, Charlotte Flair decided to use her time in the WWE to get a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship. This shows that NXT has grown, and will keep growing further.
