On the Premiere Episode of SmackDown on FOX, Brock Lesnar defeated Kofi Kingston in just 10 seconds to win the WWE Championship. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ was the favorite to win, and everyone almost knew it that Kingston was dropping the belt. However, losing the belt the way he did led to murmurs among the WWE Universe. Here is what Eric Bischoff had to say about that squash match and storytelling.

Kofi Kingston made his WWE debut over a decade back in 2006 for WWE developmental. He made his main roster debut in 2008 and got everyone excited with his high-flying moves and charming Jamaican personality.

However, for an entire decade, the top brass considered Kingston to be a mid-card superstar. He had Championship reigns as the United States Champion, Intercontinental Champion, and had several tag team championship runs.

Surprisingly, the company never found him fit to grab the big prize. However, a social media trend of ‘#Kofimania’ changed everything for him overnight. Kofi Kingston had to jump through hoops in the storyline and eventually became the number one contender for the WWE Championship at the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania.

Kingston realized his dream as he defeated Daniel Bryan to write his name in history. His children were in the crowd and shared this proud moment with their father.

From there on, Kofi never got complacent and was a fighting champion. Over a good amount of time, he defended his title against Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, and Randy Orton.

Kofi Kingston’s title reign can definitely be called a success until doomsday arrived and the Beast Brock Lesnar conquered him in jaw-dropping fashion.
