The Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle was one of the most distinguished rivals of The Dead Man.

However, the most outrageous story involving the two had nothing to do with a WWE ring. In fact, it is associated with what is now recalled as one of the most infamous incidents in WWE history.

Angle decided to freshen up those memories through his hilarious Instagram tribute to The Undertaker.

Read on to find out exactly what Angle means by this.

The Undertaker, Kurt Angle and the Plane ride from Hell

As the name suggests, it was one adventurous ride on the airplane. WWE Superstars and crew were returning to the USA after completing a grueling “Insurrextion” pay-per view in London.

The year was 2002 and the relatively less media attention meant that WWE Superstars were also more free-wheeling in their conduct.

To free some of the baggage after the arduous journey, there was some alcohol on the plane as well. However, what nobody predicted was that the situation would get completely out of control.

You can assess the gravity by the fact that two prominent WWE superstars, Scott Hall and Curt Hennig (better known as Mr. Perfect), were fired for alleged misconduct. Curt Hennig reportedly got into a tussle with the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar!

However, that’s not the story we’re here to discuss today. Keeping up with the spirit of the journey, Kurt Angle got into a light-hearted wrestling contest with the boss Vince McMahon.

They were fighting really close to Taker’s feet, who was fast asleep. As he woke up from the weird sounds, he thought that Angle was attacking Vince for real.

The ever-loyal Taker decided to choke out Angle to save his dear boss. The Phenom would discuss this incident with Stone Cold Steve Austin on the Broken Skulls Sessions.

“They were going at it and it was a chartered plane so they had all the big first-class seats,” said The Undertaker. “So I could get my legs stretched out, I was in the first row after the first class and it was the flight from hell.

“I was out and they were at my feet. So I come to and I see Kurt on Vince and I went, ‘Oh hell no!’

“So I locked [Kurt] and I was in tight. Finally, Kurt was like, ‘Take?Take’ He could barely get it out. ‘You’re choking me.’ Then somebody by that time said they were just playing and I let go, sat back down in my seat and went back out,” recalled The Undertaker.”

You can see why this incident left a permanent mark on Kurt Angle. No one would want to be on the receiving end of a legitimate choke hold by The Undertaker. Let’s hope we get to hear many more such incidents now that The Undertaker has a lot more time to recall them.
