John Morrison and The Miz are probably the best promo artists SmackDown has to offer. This is the reason that they were given the duty to open the show with the “Dirt Sheet” this week. However, just like the previous week, Braun Strowman interrupted their promo and got a singles match against The Miz, which he won.

This was a standard SmackDown booking. However, what John Morrison said after the match has to be the highlight of the entire segment. Here is the clip of that promo cut by Morrison:

In the clip Morrison said this to Strowman: “Hey big man. You won a singles match tonight. A tag match last week. But at Backlash, we are challenging you to something we know you can’t do and that’s beat of us at the same time in a handicap match for the Universal Championship.”

Strowman, with a smirk on his face replied: “You want me. You GOT me.”

Braun Strowman has been given a crazy push by Fox and WWE. He pinned both Goldberg and Bray Wyatt, who have been protected by the company. Taking this into perspective, his handicap match against Miz and Morrison seems like a filler.

WWE, during this time of the pandemic, cannot afford to have dual champions. They don’t have the roster to do that because, if, for instance, the Miz and Morrison become champions, then the Smackdown brand is left with three tag teams. It is not good because this will lead to a decrease in the prestige of the tag titles.

Braun is a huge investment. No one except him can claim that they have defeated both Goldberg and the new Bray Wyatt. The only credible reason for Strowman not to be shown as the face of Smackdown would be if he failed the WWE wellness policy. But the Monster Among Men has always remained clean which rules this possibility out.

WWE’s Backlash is not a major draw. The fans know that and the card does not have anything eye-catching. Therefore, it should not feature anything major.

It would be a standard pay-per-view but still, a must-watch for fans because Otis still has the Money in the Bank briefcase to play with.
