Speaking to “Wrestling Inc.” owner Raj Giri, Bauer revealed the real reason why he decided to air the biggest match of MLW on free TV. The match is between Jacob Fatu and Hammerstone.

“Well, I’ve always believed, it’s something Vince [McMahon] taught me, you always want to give your fans value, and so when I think about that, I want to give the fans the most I can for the least amount and that’s how you build your audience,” Bauer explained.

“That’s how they know that you’re not trying to get every dime out of the fan and exploit them, especially in times like this. We’re recovering from some pretty, pretty hard times. A lot of people lost their job.”

Bauer wants to give fans the company’s biggest match in history. He wants to put it in front of the biggest audience he can.

Bauer’s eureka moment had arrived. It was a match he discussed in February 2020 with Fatu and Hammerstone. That was Bauer’s plan, and he’d get there if Hammer won the Battle Riot, which was set to take place in Philadelphia in July 2020.

The plans, however, came to a halt due to the pandemic. However, they stuck to their guns on this one. Because of all that has happened in the world, MLW’s schedule has been erratic. They had to tread water by performing in empty arenas, but now that they’re back, everything is going smoothly.
