In a shocking turn of events, international Superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has bought XFL along with RedBird Capital for $15 million. He now owns the company and has taken over the wheel of the startup.

XFL is a football league which was the brainchild of Vince McMahon. This new venture was fueled by McMahon’s love and respect for football. He began this league first in 2001, but it didn’t quite take off. After a measly one season, the league was stopped.

Vince Mcmahon had another go at the league earlier this year and announced that it would be reopening for business. There were huge plans in place. Sadly, the pandemic hit, and XFL began struggling again.

Now, we hear that Dwayne Johnson himself has decided to buy the firm, and has made it official! This means big news for the XFL, which is gasping for breath.

However, there are a few things to consider, and the elephant in the room is obviously the NFL.

NFL has been the go-to for football fans for decades. It’s loyal and dedicated fanbase makes it near impossible for competition to butt in.

Taking on a mammoth-like NFL is crazy to even think of. This was until of course, Dwayne Johnson threw his hat into the deal.

Dwayne Johnson is capable of getting the audience himself

Being one of the most popular names in the world, Johnson knows a thing or two about attracting a crowd. If there’s anyone who was born to be the showman of the people, it’s The Rock.

At any given time on his Instagram live videos, he has about 67,000 viewers. This massive fanbase can be the best thing for XFL, and Johnson will surely use it.

The Rock has an eye for business and has invested in various companies. His acquisition of XFL is by no means a rash decision. We can be almost certain that it was a well planned and studied decision.

The reason for this is that the crowd in the USA loves football and that is a fact. Even though NFL may have the core audience, there’s nothing saying they won’t enjoy a bit of diversity.

Now that The Rock has the power in his hands, he can advertise the life out of XFL. The league’s potential profits are huge, and Johnson may have just made a great decision.

The question that pops up is- Why did Vince Mcmahon let go of his dream in the end?

There’s no solid reason, but it’s safe to assume that he had to. The league was showing very little response during the pandemic time, and in spite of its sudden spike in viewership, it would be more costly to resuscitate the league. A buyout would definitely have sounded good to McMahon.
