Nikki Bella Once Teased a Bizarre Move From John Cena That May Have Been “Legally” Hurtful to Her

There is no other wrestler who is more closely associated with WWE than John Cena. He was the face of the company for over a decade and had held several championships in the company. He ties The Nature Boy, Ric Flair, for holding 16 world championships throughout his career, but unlike the legend, Cena held all of them inside a WWE ring.

While this is all so humble and kind by Cena, he also has given his real name as intellectual property. This means that anything that he makes money off of using his real name, he shares some part of it with WWE.

But that’s not all. The property also suggests that his name is a valuable product to the company and can’t be mentioned in things other than WWE. This might have been the case for this Nikki Bella interview where she didn’t say his ex-boyfriend’s name at all.

While reflecting on her relationship with Cena, Nikki Bella said, “We’re both at the point that we just don’t want to be talked about at all together anymore. We don’t want our breakup to define us or interfere with our work. And that was happening for a while.”

People’s magazine also wrote that Bella said, “can’t say his name, legally, anymore,” and the article’s author writes that Bella “shares a knowing smile with [her twin sister] Brie that makes me unsure whether it’s an inside joke or if she’s serious.”

While the interviewer noticed that the Bella twins were chuckling, we can take a guess as to why they were so jolly about the situation. Being connected to WWE, long after they stopped wrestling, the Bella Twins are first and foremost businesswomen.

So, trying to not get the company’s attention, the Bellas might have scurried away from the name. But when the question came up, Nikki had to say something, and she did it perfectly.

Talking about their connection with WWE, the company inducted the two sisters in the Hall of Fame 2022 ceremony. On top of that, the Bellas also starred in the mega-hit TV show Total Divas, before moving on to their own TV show, Total Bellas.
