Former WWE Superstar CM Punk in an exclusive interview given to ‘Inside The Ropes’ recounts the time he convinced Stone Cold Steve Austin to give him a stunner during a dark match on Raw. 

Punk remembers that both of them were in San Diego and he recalls just walking up to Austin and asking him what he was doing there. Austin promptly responded to that and asked him that what does that mean. Punk stopped the small talk and went straight to the point and asked:

” I got a dark match. Do you mind coming out and just giving me a Stunner. You know how else we gonna send these people home.”

Austin’s response to this request was :

“Goddamn yeah, alright kid. I’ve been back here I don’t know how many times and nobody ever ask me that before.”

Punk continues the story and remembers that he grabbed the heels of the match (The Miz and R-Truth) and talks about their shocked reaction when he revealed the Stone Cold Stunner spot. According to Punk, this is what made Austin start taking a liking to him.

Moving on from Austin, Punk then diverted the conversation towards Marty Scurll. He talked about the C2E2 signing event which they did together. Scurll told Punk there that he would like to wrestle him. At this moment, CM Punk thinks that he took Steve Austin’s position as now he was the one being asked for a match.

Punk found this interesting, and he explained the reason for that with the example of Will Osprey. He revealed that he does not watch wrestling. However, he did reveal that Will Osprey’s clips on Twitter make him say ‘Jesus Christ!’. Punk believes that he can work with what Osprey does but he does not believe that he can do what Osprey does in the ring as he is too old for that

Punk then again talks about the new generation after bringing out Kenny Omega’s name in the conversation. He stated that he looks at guys like Kenny Omega and that he knows that Kenny is now the big match guy. He just looks at him and doubts that he could keep up with him in the ring.
