WWE Announces Major News on Next NXT Takeover

WWE has finally announced the date for the next NXT Takeover event –  October 4, 2020.

The previous NXT Takeover gave us several new champions. While Damien Priest secured the North American Title in a Ladder Match, Karrion Kross clinched the NXT title.

Unfortunately, he had to surrender the title due to an injury. This allowed Finn Balor to defeat Adam Cole for the title.

Recap of the latest WWE NXT episode

The latest episode of WWE NXT delivered some brilliant matches.

Shotzi Blackheart and Shirai battled in an entertaining match to start off the night. Even though the latter emerged victorious, the overall performance of both Superstars was commendable.

However, Blackheart had built quite the momentum for herself at NXT. Unfortunately, there is a possibility that NXT officials will now put Shirai over her.

Next, current Champion Finn Balor announced that any potential challengers will have to prove their mettle before getting the chance to face him.

Coming to the tag team titles, Breezango proved that their title victory wasn’t a fluke by decisively defeating Imperium.

Finally, the WWE NXT main event featured Damian Priest and Timothy Thatcher. Priest fought valiantly throughout the match to retain his North American title.

The broadcasting end of the event also had some news. Wade Barrett has finally signed with NXT and will be a part of the weekly broadcast team. Not only will he be a part of the NXT events, but also events like Takeover.

Barrett himself confirmed this deal during an interview. As a matter of fact, he revealed that the current contract has a clause which allows him to extend the partnership.

This episode of WWE NXT was one of the better ones that the Black and Gold brand has witnessed. It’s safe to assume that NXT is not a developmental brand anymore but is now taking the position of WWE’s third brand following SmackDown and Raw.
