There is perhaps no one in WWE history like Andre the Giant. Andre the Giant is one of the most well-known wrestlers in history. Even if someone did not know what wrestling was, they knew Andre the Giant. His reputation went beyond the wrestling ring as he became a pop culture icon. Moreover, he was called ‘The Eight Wonder of the World’ because of his incredible size.

At his peak, Andre the Giant weighed over 500 pounds and stood at seven feet and four inches tall. He was truly a spectacle to watch, as just seeing him walk down the aisle to the ring mesmerized the fans. Moreover, he also often met his fans outside the WWE arena. This photo gives perspective to the gargantuan size of the WWE legend.

The picture truly says a thousand words as the little kid seems completely startled by Andre. Andre’s incredible size made him one of the greatest attractions for WWE during the 1970s and 80s.

Naturally, he dominated most of his opponents in the ring. Andre never really needed a championship to put him over with the crowd, as he was simply incredible to watch.

However, he is a former WWE World Champion and also a former WWE World Tag Team Champion. His greatest feud was with Hulk Hogan, which gave the industry immortal moments. The slam heard around the world was when Hulk Hogan body slammed Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3. It is still the most infamous moment in wrestling history.

Andre the Giant was also the first-ever WWE Hall of Famer.

When was the last match of Andre the Giant?

Andre the Giant competed in many promotions during his historic career. His last match in WWE was on 11th May 1991, where he was a part of a battle royal to decide the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship. However, he competed for different promotions later on. His true last match was on 4th December 1992. He competed in a tag team match for the wrestling promotion All Japan Pro Wrestling.

Unfortunately, Andre the Giant passed away on 27th January 1993 at the age of 46. However, he left behind an immortal legacy, one every big-sized wrestler today tries to live up to. But there will never be another Andre the Giant.
