“He is on another level”- Drew McIntyre Opens Up on his Rivalry with Randy Orton

Drew McIntyre has never faced an opponent like “The Viper” Randy Orton. Building up to SummerSlam, The WWE Champion spoke to Mirror UK about the chance he got to work with Randy Orton.

“The Apex Predator” is currently doing the best heelwork of his life. The last time we all enjoyed Orton as a heel was over a decade ago when he was in a feud with Triple H and The McMahons.

Drew McIntyre is currently on top of the WWE mountain. He has been an impressive Champion since winning the top belt at WrestleMania 36.

However, the Scot is still a youngster and has a lot to learn in the business. McIntyre praised the fine work Orton is currently doing and how he has worked hard to step up to The Legend Killer’s level.

“I think I’ve got a lot of work left to do, you know, Randy is completely on fire right now. He’s on another level and it was up to me to step up to Randy’s level and hopefully I showed that I’m truly capable of that, like I did on Raw, when let loose with a talent like Randy Orton.”

Drew McIntyre doesn’t want the rivalry with Randy Orton to be a one-off

The WWE Champion knows how big of a star Randy Orton is. He further speaks about how beating Orton would take his career forward and make him an actual Superstar.

One of the things that McIntyre sincerely hopes is that the rivalry doesn’t end at SummerSlam. He would like to fight against Randy Orton a lot more than just one match.

“But I’m hoping SummerSlam is not ‘one and done’. I think we can really do some cool stuff with Randy and I think I’ve been doing a lot of good with the WWE title. I think it’s important we make new stars for the future and I think if I’m able to beat Randy and continue to hold the WWE Championship, it would do wonders for me and take me to that next level of being a real bona fide star on the roster that will bring fans into the building when we are able to.”

With the mind games being currently employed by The Viper, he is positioned to be the favorite for the match at SummerSlam. However, things look different after the backstage argument between Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins.

WWE is teasing a storyline between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre. The only thing left to see is whether McIntyre holds the strap as and when he is confronted by “The Monday Night Messiah.”
