R-Truth Reveals How Rap Music Helped Him Get Into WWE
One of the unspoken heroes of WWE is its very own jester R-Truth. Many fans see Truth as comic relief to intense episodes, but few truly know just how much he went through to be where he is today.
In a recent interview on The New Day podcast, the former 24/7 Champion revealed how Rap music changed his career, and how it still plays an important role in his life today.

“I think they go hand in hand. And I would say this, that I’ve been in the wrestling business as long as I’ve been, I’ve learned so much about it,” said Truth. “To be able to like walk and handle the music business even though the music business is what led me here, it’s like I’ve matured in this business.
“Because of wrestling, I’ve matured. When we come out man our music is the first thing that sets us off. it sets the bass, sets the tone. Music is just like goes hand-in-hand with it.”
WCW’s Jack Crockett helped R-Truth find his true calling
R-Truth attributes his journey through WWE to one man- Jack Crockett. The former WCW cameraman, involved sometimes in the ring, apparently found Truth in a jail.

Seeing the potential in him, rather than looking the other way, Crockett pulled him up and offered him an opportunity.

He then took Truth to WCW shows and showed him the promo brilliance of a prime Ric Flair. Crockett told Truth that if he followed the same path, he could be standing in the ring, rapping to whatever he wanted.

Already sold on the entire thing, Truth found his calling. Working hard, he reached the high ranks and eventually signed for WWE. He is now a regular feature on Monday Night Raw.
“Once you put a character with it, which my musical character is just me and I don’t have to put anything with it but just energy and it’s just me. So I think the two coincided helps each other out,” concluded Truth.
