Edge Wants a One on One Match With John Cena at WWE WrestleMania Before Retirement

WWE Hall of Famer Edge made a triumphant return at the 2020 Royal Rumble. Since then, he hasn’t looked back and has delivered some terrific matches against the likes of Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. However, when we think of Edge’s most memorable rivals, one name that instantly comes to mind is John Cena.

The Leader of the Cenation and the ‘Rated-R Superstar’ worked extensive storylines as rivals for half a decade! Despite working so much together, the two had a chemistry that made fans want for more, even though they’d seen the two square off several times.

Edge and Cena wrestled on almost every show and major PPV, except one – WrestleMania. However, Edge’s optimistic that it could still happen one day.

Edge wants a special feud with arch-nemesis John Cena again

During a recent appearance on the Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer talked about his feuds with John Cena. Talking about it he revealed he wanted to be the Joker to Cena’s Batman. And they managed to do just that.

However, he expressed there’s one thing still left in their saga – a WrestleMania match.

Edge said, “The only thing among John and I, we never wrestled a one on one at WrestleMania. Which is crazy, right?” Angle immediately said that Edge and Cena worked a lot together. He further continued, “We worked everything else, but [WrestleMania].”

Just as the ‘Rated-R Superstar‘ said that, guest host Paul Bromwell said “Never say never.” To which he instantly replied saying, “Yeah. True, true. I’m back! The scent is in the air, you never know, could happen one day.”

Edge and John Cena did fight at WrestleMania 25, but it was a Triple Threat that also involved the Big Show.

John Cena made his long-awaited WWE return at Money in the Bank. He is set to face Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2021 (which by the way, will be air live in Movie Theatres!) While the match is a clash of the titans, there’s a strong belief Cena will put over Reigns.

After all, the ‘Champ‘ is now a Hollywood star too, and will begin shooting for his next film once his WWE schedule ends. Although there’s always a chance to make a return before WrestleMania and set up a match with his arch-nemesis, the ‘Ultimate Opportunist’ Edge.
