In the 27th episode of Confessions of the Hitman, the Hall of Famer recalled the time he had a stroke. The traumatic experience was truly a nightmare for Hart, but he is proud of the way he recovered from it.

“Hands down, the most challenging battle I ever had; that’s for sure. I’ve talked a lot about my stroke over the years. As difficult as it was, I’ve always been really proud of how I recovered through it,” said Hart.

“I willed myself to not really give up, and I think it’s a little bit like, I wrote in my book that it was kind of time to be the hero I was pretending to be in [pro] wrestling,” revealed Hitman. “I did not give up, I kept pushing the envelope the whole time.”

Bret Hart names Goldberg as the main reason for his stroke

Digging up a seemingly buried casket, Hart traces the cause of his stroke all the way back to WWE legend Goldberg. In Starrcade 1999, the two had a match that would be the last of Bret Hart’s career.

Suffering a terrible concussion, Hart was forced to leave wrestling, bringing a painful early end to his legendary career. “The Hitman” has still not forgiven Goldberg for the events on that day.

“When Bill Goldberg kicked me, I could see stars. Then, when I had my stroke, lying on the grass 100 feet from The Pumphouse Theatre on the Bow River there, on the bike path, I remember lying on the grass and I could see just out of my left eye, not the right one,” revealed Hart.

“The right eye was fine, but the left eye, it was the same thing. It was a million stars in my left eye, and I remember going, ‘the concussion.’”

Towards the end of the topic, the WWE legend assured fans that he is 90% healthy and has no complication of the sort at this time.

Although Bret Hart never got to fully live out his wrestling career, he will surely be remembered for the classics he gave us. They don’t call him “The Best there is, The Best there was and The Best there ever will be” for no reason.
