Reason Why Vince McMahon Was Not Present at WWE Royal Rumble 2021

The 2021 WWE Royal Rumble was an all you can eat buffet. It had everything from top-notch action, compelling storytelling, and of course, its USP – surprise returns and debuts! What’s more baffling is that all of this happened, and WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon wasn’t sitting at his usual gorilla position!

Vince McMahon wasn’t present at the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble

WWE Chairman and CEO, Vince McMahon, rarely misses an episode of Raw or SmackDown, but this time he missed one of WWE’s biggest PPVs of the year – the Royal Rumble. But why? What was the reason?

According to Ringside News, Mr. McMahon wasn’t at the Royal Rumble but was still “very involved” in the entire show via phone. Kevin Dunn, Bruce Prichard, and Triple H were the men in charge of the show.

Vince McMahon missed last week’s Raw and SmackDown following the passing of his brother, Rodney McMahon, on January 20th and may have been spending time with family after such a huge personal loss. Despite not being physically present, he still got minute-by-minute updates of the show.

Some would say Royal Rumble was a great PPV because Vince wasn’t backstage, but honestly, nothing on WWE TV happens without Vince’s approval. Vince approved the Rumble, showing he’s still the man in charge.

Men on a Mission at the Rumble

Vince McMahon’s absence put the responsibility straight on Kevin Dunn, Bruce Prichard, and Triple H‘s shoulders, and they delivered. The entire PPV progressed smoothly, literally felt like a breeze.

WWE Producers Tyson Kidd, Adam Pearce, Christopher Parks (Abyss), and Pat Buck produced the 30-woman Royal Rumble match while Vince’s son, Shane McMahon, Jason Jordan, and Jamie Noble produced the 30-man Royal Rumble.

 

It’s safe to say that all the men that were involved behind the scenes in the Royal Rumble, did an exceptional job delivering a classic PPV that the WWE Universe will remember forever. We already know Triple H’s capabilities of running shows from NXT, but others too stepped up and showed Vince that he can count on them.
