WWE has always been an extremely demanding profession. Athletes are literally expected to put their bodies on the line, all for a good show. Usually, the shows are taped in front of a live audience, which means they have to be perfect, all the time.

However, Otis and Baron Corbin have taken advantage of the lack of fans, and have reportedly reshot their segment on Friday Night SmackDown.

Baron Corbin and Otis had been booked for a match on SmackDown. They engaged in their bout, which had a few segments that needed to be filmed again.

Specifically, it is reported that Otis had to suffer four spine busters before the best shot was taken. And as it turns out, that wasn’t even the part of the match that was messed up.

A second reshoot had also happened, during a promo being cut by MVP. The superstar, while speaking, had referred to the crowd as ‘NXT Superstars’.

He had been cut off by the loudspeaker which corrected him while he was speaking. MVP was corrected, with the WWE official stating that the audience members weren’t NXT Superstars, but Performance Center Recruits.

Usually, because of the fans present, wrestlers are pressured to bring their A-game every night. Any slip up would mean boos coming from all-around towards the ring.

However, this practice has changed with the pandemic looming over the world. Now, wrestlers have the option of pre-taping their bouts, in front of a small audience. These audience members are most likely not even fans, making the job even easier.

Performers now have the ability to carefully engage in their matches. They can now work closely on them to make it better for the fans at home. Jump cuts, re-filming, and re-trying moves can all be done now, making for a more cohesive match for fans to enjoy.

This also means great things for storylines, as better promos can be cut, without having the trouble of slipping up in front of the fans.

Although the absence of fans affects the WWE in a big way, with many aspects of the sport being different, it looks like they’re making the best of the situation.
