In a recent interview, WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair compared Randy Orton to himself in his prime. He was full of praise for the Superstar and talked about how well Orton has matured.

Joining forces with “The Viper”, Flair struck a low blow to Christian in the unsanctioned match on RAW, leading to his loss.

Flair reveals the feeling of catching up with Orton after so many years for that segment.

“Oh, it was great. I’m the most fortunate guy in the world…,” says Flair. “The morale was great. It was fun catching up with Randy as I’ve been friends with his dad for so many years.”

Ric Flair and Orton’s father “Cowboy” Bob Orton are very close friends and have been since their days in WWE.

“I literally call his dad every time Randy steals [a match]. His promos are on fire and it’s a whole different style than mine. His promo and Edge’s promo – they’re just on fire. He is on a premium high in this business and I’m so happy for Randy that he’s getting premium acknowledgment.”

Ric Flair seems to be thrilled by being part of the promotion. His inclusion in this major storyline has made him reach a new level of excitement.

In the match against Orton, Edge suffered a torn tricep injury and will most likely be out for months. There is a lot of concern about him retiring now, just after coming back from his hiatus.

“I have not spoken to him personally, but I know those tears – the triceps, shoulder – it takes forever to heal. And a thing you don’t want to do is, you don’t want to rush that cause they’re easy to tear again and then it becomes more problematic,” says Flair.

Edge gave Randy Orton a fight like never before

Edge was a great opponent for Orton and performed incredibly well in the match. Flair talks about his choice for the victor before the match began.

“But to be off all that time and to go out there and wrestle for 50 minutes… I predicted Orton would win but Edge was absolutely spectacular,” says Flair.

Edge certainly fought a major battle and took the game to Orton. After all those years on the sidelines, he didn’t show any signs of ring rust or fatigue.

Flair was sure to remind Randy of the time he is in now. He thinks that “The Viper” is living his prime and must enjoy it while it lasts.

“Well, I told Randy the other day. I said, ‘Randy, the matches I had that everybody likes so well, even though we had millions of them, were when I turned 40. I was 40 years old when Steamboat was 35. The trilogy, right?’ Randy just turned 40. I said, ‘You’re just turning 40 and you’re at the peak, you know,'” said Flair.

Randy Orton is like no other wrestler in the ring. His 20-year experience has made him better than ever. Being in the ring for a large part of his life has made him a veteran in his prime.

He is inarguably the most dangerous opponent. Orton has seen it all and done it all. Flair has no hesitation in acknowledging this.

“Randy has always been this good, but I think he is into it right now,” explains Flair. “He’s very, very, very involved with his family to that age that he’s wrestled so many people and been in the ring so much that he can call on everything he has seen and experienced and it’s right there. He doesn’t have to think about it. He’s just that plain good right now. It’s like Charlotte but in a shorter sequence of time.”

Ric Flair must definitely mean it when he compared his own daughter with Randy Orton.

WWE has decided to crown Orton as the greatest wrestler of all time. There’s a good chance that he actually is the greatest. If you look at experience, physical ability, mentality, and consistency, no one can compete with Randy Orton.
