Ric Flair on having two world championships in WWE?

Recently, Ric Flair on his YouTube channel with Mark Madden, discussed how two World Titles in the same company affect the title’s legacy. Also, how two world titles overshadow the secondary singles titles like the United States Championship and the Intercontinental Championship.

WWE currently has two world titles, WWE Championship held by Brock Lesnar on RAW and Universal Championship held by Roman Reigns on SmackDown.

Mark asked Ric about his views on having two World Titles. Ric said, “Well yeah, you have to remember this Mark. If they are gonna have two brands, you gotta have two champions, I get that. In the old days you could have two brands but there was only one champion and the champion to me if I was booking this the champion will work both brands.”

Mark thought that there should not be two world titles. If the titles are combined, it devalues them.

Ric added, “It might devalue to guys like you and me who watch it. But to the bank account and WWE’s success with huge promotions and the way they do it you can never knock the success that they it’s brought them.”

Ric was an NWA champion back in his day and defended it from territory to territory. Being a veteran in the business, he surely knows what’s what. As he said, if the wrestlers are earning big and WWE is earning good from having two world titles, there is no problem. Only the company should book it properly.

However, Ric Flair wasn’t happy that WWE booked her cash-in after the Charlotte vs Rhea Ripley match, which was the best match of the night. Ric on his show appreciated Nikki and Rhea.

He said, “Aside from making Nikki (the champion) who is lovely, nothing personal. What did that do for the belt? You are talking about the moment. Who did Charlotte wrestle that night for the title? Oh Rhea Ripley, tore the joint down. Rhea can work her a*s off. And then Nikki dive off that top rope with her mask. You have taken a great match, literally a great match and given it a cartoon finish. For what?”
