Roman Reigns shocked the WWE Universe as he FINALLY turned heel and won the WWE Universal Championship. At Payback, Roman Reigns aligned with Paul Heyman.
This is nothing like the Roman we have seen before. Fans are delighted with the change. However, the reason for Roman’s turn was not clarified by WWE, Reigns, or Heyman. But now, with the opening segment of Friday Night SmackDown, we have the answer to why the ‘Big Dog’ turned “evil.”
Paul Heyman reveals the reason behind Roman Reigns’ change

As announced earlier, the Universal Champion walked in the ring with Paul Heyman amidst boos and cheers.
However, it was Paul Heyman who did most of the talking. He revealed it was not Heyman who “corrupted” Reigns, but it was the other way round. Like Heyman, Reigns was forgotten as he went on a break due to his leukemia treatment. The duo believed that they gave WWE their all but were still forgotten. They found each other and did what was necessary (fans could not agree more).

Paul continued by explaining how “The Fiend” does not deserve to be the Universal Champion as he is not “champion material.” Even though there’s a fatal-four-way scheduled later for the night, Heyman said the contenders are not at the same level of Reigns and Heyman.

Paul Heyman ended the promo by saying he is proud to serve as the “special counsel to … your reigning, defending, undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.”
The promo itself was a classic Heyman promo, capitalizing on the much-awaited heel turn. It was definitely interesting to see the ‘Big Dog’ turning into a “Paul Heyman guy.”

As a fan, the duo of Reigns and Heyman is a delight to watch. As Reigns stood there with a mean grim face, Heyman took care of business as he always does.
Things are definitely getting interesting on WWE SmackDown. Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns’ promo set the stage for WWE Clash of Champions 2020 at the end of the month. It is amazing to see Reigns FINALLY using his full potential as a heel.
