One reason why the WWE lacks popularity now is because it has become impossible to shock the fans. With the barrage of information available on the internet and the dirt sheets, the surprises are few and far between. However, WWE should pat themselves on the back as they managed to pull off an unexpected swerve with Bray Wyatt on Friday Night Smackdown.

While the viewers of Fox had tuned in for another segment of the Firefly fun house, the most they expected was for the Fiend to confront Braun Strowman. However, in a dramatic turn of events, Wyatt reverted to his earlier Cult leader persona. Notably, Strowman’s WWE debut had happened as a part of the Wyatt Family as a protege of the eater of the worlds.

That’s why this new element in the storyline adds extra layers of intrigue in what many were expecting to be a predictable story. Bray confronted Strowman and warned him that he could destroy his own creation. With the look of anguish on the face of The Monster Among Men, it was relatively clear that the mind games had indeed begun.

Twitter reactions showed that the fans had indeed bought into the surprise. They were all in for a feud between the master and the erstwhile servant. The Universal Championship picture just became a lot more exciting.

Twitter excited over Bray Wyatt character change

Fans were visibally surprised by the sudden change of events. However, the reactions were mostly favourable.

As you can see, fans can’t hold their excitement. As much as we love this new version of Wyatt, it’s imperative for The Fiend to return. It spells volumes about the talent of Bray Wyatt that fans are itching to see him work in all his different personalities.

As of now, it seems like the cult leader Wyatt will face off against Strowman at Extreme Rules. A victory for Strowman there can set up a big clash with The Fiend at Summerslam. Needless to say, WWE television is all you need in the next few months.
