Sami Zayn Opens up About Being Resented in the WWE Locker Room

Sami Zayn is one of the quirkiest Superstars that one will come across in WWE. The Intercontinental Champion has quite an in-ring character that can sometimes get on your nerves. Turns out, that actually was a problem for him in real life.

In a recent interview with the New Day: Feel the Power Podcast, the ‘legitimate’ Champion spoke about the time he received a lot of heat in WWE’s locker room for his behavior.

“WWE made me aware of some of my own actions. I came in and the big mantra was perception is reality. Even though I was 28 when I got there, I don’t think I was a fully mature person in some ways,” explained Zayn.

Sami Zayn was much like his free-flowing character that cunningly trapped Jeff Hardy to win the ladder match at Clash of Champions. Apparently, he was a bit too open in voicing controversial opinions which did not reflect well on his character.

“I don’t think I was fully aware of–I had my interpretation of what I thought I was but then there was, ‘Oh wait, people who didn’t agree with that assessment.’ I see myself one way and other people are seeing me in a very different way and it was astounding a little bit because it made me a lot more aware of how my actions are perceived by people who are not me,” admits Zayn.

Now, it seems like Sami Zayn restricts his free-spirited mouth to the ring. He also has a much more decent conduct backstage. Judging by the fact that he has understood and improved, we can assume that he was not trying to be spiteful.

Fans surely felt his absence in WWE for the early months of the pandemic.

We expect Sami Zayn to go a long way in his reign as Intercontinental Champion. He will surely want to hold on to it for a few more legitimate months.
