Sonya Deville Issues a Challenge to Raw Female Superstar

It has been two weeks since Raw Underground started airing, and it has already created some buzz among wrestlers and fans alike. Shane McMahon’s brainchild is almost like a “no holds barred” segment where anything is possible. The matches take place in the dimly lit basement of WWE’s performance center in Florida.

Raw Underground does not have a specific roster yet, nor is it an exclusive brand product. The MMA/UFC style combat sports segment has already seen fast-rising stable Hurt Business (Bobby Lashley, MVP, Shelton Benjamin), WWE veteran Dolph Ziggler and new stars like Arturo Ruas, Dabba Kato, Cal Bloom take part in the first few matches.

Last Monday, fans saw Shayna Baszler become the first woman to take part in Underground. She took on three talents and defeated them single-handedly.

Fans were quick to suggest Smackdown’s Sonya Deville as Baszler’s Underground opponent due to their similar MMA background. For the uninitiated, both women were involved in MMA first before making the shift to WWE.

Sonya Deville reveals if the dream match will take place

Deville finally addressed these speculations in a recent interview with Sportskeeda. She talked about Raw Underground as well as Baszler.

“I know I’ll end up over there. Uh, it’ll probably end up being me versus Shayna in Underground one of these days, and I’d happily give her a little TKO action.”

She’s currently involved in an exciting feud with her old partner Mandy Rose. Deville cut Rose’s hair two weeks ago, and now they are scheduled to face each other at WWE Summerslam.

However, Sonya is confident that she will not only face Shyana, but defeat her.

She said, “Listen, I’ll face anybody any time, but I’m going after championship gold. So if I have time in my very, very busy and productive schedule to squeeze Shayna in, sure.”

Shayna is yet to address Deville. She is getting ready to win this week’s battle royal to determine the Number one contender for Bayley’s Smackdown Women’s Championship at Summerslam.

No doubt, it’d be interesting to see Deville and Baszler face-off against each other in the “no ropes and no rules” format of Raw Underground.
