Major WWE Female Superstar Aims for the Men’s Championship

The idea of having an openly gay female wrestler in WWE was impossible to think of even 5 years ago.However, Sonya Deville and her rise in the industry has effected a much needed change.
In fact, when she was introduced, the #GiveDivasAChance movement had taken momentum. As a result, WWE was coming around to the idea of providing better opportunities and platforms to women.
Stephanie McMahon has already stated that the LGBTQ storyline holds strong potential in the WWE.

However, we haven’t seen any hints given towards this direction as of yet. Nevertheless, Deville continues to push for the storyline.
“It’s definitely been something that’s been in talks for a couple years now, and I would love to see it happen in the near future. But once again, timing is everything and we’re going to make sure that it’s done right.”
Sonya Deville ambitious about participating in men’s championship
On the other hand, we as fans need to acknowledge that Deville’s potential is not limited to her sexual orientation. Even though she is yet to win a championship title, her ambitions need to be applauded.

She has been quite open about her desire to be a part of the men’s division and win that title. However, inter-gender wrestling in WWE is still a touchy subject.

“I’ve always been one for equality, whether it be gender, sexuality, race, religion, I firmly believe that that’s important and that’s part of the progression of the women’s evolution that’s taking place today. I mean, we’re in 2020, I think anything’s possible. And I would love to be one of the first women to kind of pioneer that concept.”

Not only is Sonya Deville interested in competing for a men’s title, but so is Charlotte Flair.
WWE might be in discussion with former IMPACT world champion Tessa Blanchard about the same. There is a possibility that fans will witness intergender wrestling sooner than expected.
