Stone Cold Steve Austin is perhaps the most successful character in WWE history. The Austin Era began back in the late 1990s, and Steve is still incredibly popular. Moreover, he created an iconic catchphrase that has become synonymous with Stone Cold. “Austin 3:16” is a phrase that got ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ incredibly over with the fans.
This led to WWE putting out as much merchandise as possible with the catchphrase on it. Austin’s merchandise is still one of the top sellers in WWE’s shop. However, there was one WWE legend who tried to use “Austin 3:16” for his own monetary benefit.

This was the late great Owen Hart. WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently told the story of how Austin did not appreciate Owen making money off his creation.
On a recent episode of his “Grilling JR” podcast, Jim Ross revealed Austin did not like Owen Hart’s “Owen 3:16” t-shirts. He did not appreciate that Owen was making money off his idea.

Jim Ross said, “He created ‘3:16’, and now you got a shirt that says ‘Owen 3:16’. Who gets paid on that shirt? The guy that invented 3:16, or the guy named Owen? It opened up a Pandora’s box of issues. I don’t think that shirt lasted long, I really don’t. I expressed to Vince [that] Steve was unhappy with it and I asked that question: who gets paid? Eventually, the shirt disappeared.”
Stone Cold Steve Austin is a great businessman. He has shown many times that when it came to business; he did not have a soft side. Being at the top of the mountain in WWE is a tricky place, as one has to make sure that one stays on top. Jim Ross revealed that Austin and Hart did make amends before Hart passed away.
