“Stop Throwing My Name Around”: Hulk Hogan Once Publicly Called Out Brock Lesnar as He Crossed the Line

Hulk Hogan is one of the greatest wrestlers in the world and, to his credit, it is very rare to see him be pinned in a wrestling ring. Hogan gave very few wrestlers the honor, especially at the beginning of their careers. But Brock Lesnar is one of the few wrestlers who crushed the Hulkster during his debut run with the company.

While many would remember their feud and match from the early 2000s, they also had a short feud in the 2010s that is forgotten.

While it was an era where a Hogan match would be impossible, WWE never fails to capitalize on a golden opportunity to book a Legend vs Legend match. And they were pretty close with booking Hulk Hogan vs Brock Lesnar.

On the August 12, 2014, episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE held a birthday celebration for Hulk Hogan. Inviting all of his old rivals and friends, but Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman interrupted the celebration. After staring down all the legends in the ring, Lesnar came face to face with the Hulkster. Picking up the mic, Lesnar shouted, “Party’s over, Grandpa.

Responding to this, Hogan told the paparazzi at the airport, “This is a shout-out to Brock Lesnar, every dog has his day and John Cena will be back. But he starts throwing my name around, you and Heyman on my Old Country West song. I’m not as good as I ever was, but I was good once.

“Brock Lesnar, you need to bite your tongue and stop throwing my name around, I’m just tired here. I know it’s all entertainment but when he starts throwing my name around with my wife and my kids, he’s crossing the line.

When he was asked about the recent batch of wrestlers, Hogan replied, “They’re running high, jumping fast like a super crop of new athletes. It’s just amazing watching them, I’m telling you. It’s the training facilities, WWE’s got their Performance Center. We didn’t have anything like that back then. It’s like a hybrid between trainers, massage therapists, and their blood levels.

It should be noted that Hogan is referring to stars like Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston, who came to prominence around this time.
