Her absence raised a series of questions from the WWE fandom. Exactly which angle WWE is hoping to take from here onward is not known. However, here are some of the theories that seem plausible.

Possible reasons why Alexa Bliss was absent at SummerSlam 2020

Firstly, Bliss is a primary part of the Strowman-Wyatt storyline. Therefore, WWE will definitely capitalize on it. As a result, the company will bring in Bliss later in the future when the storyline evolves into something more grand.

Furthermore, here’s one thing to remember – Alexa Bliss’ presence during the Wyatt swamp fight between Strowman and Bray Wyatt hinted that Bliss might be Sister Abigail. Now that the Monster Among Men faced The Fiend during SummerSlam, fans expected Bliss as Sister Abigail to make a second appearance.

This would coincide with the return of Roman Reigns.

There is a huge possibility WWE did not want the Strowman vs Wyatt match to end with two storylines – one with Reigns and one with Bliss. That would’ve distracted attention from the big return of Reigns. Obviously, that was the last thing the company wanted.

Additionally, keeping Alexa Bliss out of SummerSlam gives an opening to the company to include her in the Roman Reigns-Bray Wyatt storyline. However, this is only a possibility if Bliss completely dismisses Braun Strowman and sides with Bray Wyatt.

Bliss is not happy with her exclusion

Coming to Alexa Bliss herself, she is not happy with WWE for excluding her from SummerSlam 2020. She took to social media to express the need to always know self-worth.

She got quite a positive response to her statement.

Considering she is a 5-time Women’s Champion, she expects to always be on top. Hence, excluding her from a massive event such as SummerSlam was demeaning in her opinion.

Moreover, Alexa Bliss was going to make an appearance during the main event. Unfortunately for her, WWE stopped her at the last minute as ‘The Big Dog’ was ready to make his comeback.

Lastly, it is possible that WWE is playing the angle where Alexa Bliss breaks out of the storyline where she plays a love interest. This way she can finally become the solo Superstar her fans expect her to be!
