The announcement of Vince McMahon retiring from WWE came as a shock for the entire wrestling universe. He had stepped down from his position as chairperson due to the ongoing investigations.

Mr. McMahon ran WWE as the captain for four decades in which the company become one of the top-most wrestling promotions.

Vince McMahon recently shared a tweet to announce his immediate retirement from WWE. He kept the tweet simple by thanking the WWE universe and sharing that at 77 years old it’s time for him to retire. He ended the tweet with the WWE tagline “Then. Now. Forever. Together.”

However, Mr. McMahon shared a full statement regarding his retirement on WWE.com. There, he gave detailed gratitude to all the people who supported him throughout his tenure in WWE.

After Vince McMahon announced his retirement, WWE appointed Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan as the Co-CEOs. Nick Khan is the WWE President and Stephanie McMahon is the Interim Chairperson after the boss man stepped down from his position.

Vince McMahon is close to many WWE superstars. For some, he is like a father figure in the business. The Undertaker has stated multiple times that Mr. McMahon is one of his best friends in WWE. 

He has made careers of many WWE stars in his tenure. Some of those stars share their reaction to McMahon retiring. They shared their gratitude to Vince McMahon for everything he did in WWE.

Under Vince McMahon, WWE saw their hay-day and some downs. However, he was adamant to be the number one wrestling promoter in the USA and wanted to make WWE a global phenomenon. Needless to say, Mr. McMahon successfully achieved the things he planned for WWE.

The most notable eras which came under McMahon’s leadership is the 80s era which was dominated by WWE. The next boom period came in the late 90s with the Attitude Era. He purchased the rival company WCW in 2001, thus winning the Monday Night Wars.

Mr. McMahon purchasing WCW was the turning point when he cemented his legacy as the greatest wrestling promoter of all time. Additionally, he went to lengths and became a WWE character during the Attitude Era. He made himself involved in the ring, giving some memorable matches and segments.

Regardless of how things would turn out for WWE and the world of wrestling entertainment, McMahon’s contributions will forever have a place in the history books.
